Not only is the Kwikset SmartCode 916 sporting a new modern look, sleek capacitive touchscreen, and Home Connect capabilities, it’s also been upgraded with the improved Z-Wave Plus. Now you can configure up to 30 user access codes for family and guests, lock and unlock the door remotely, and see whether or not the door is locked, right from your smart device. The lock is equipped with a tapered motorized deadbolt which ensures a secure lock every time, even on misaligned doors. By connecting to other Z-Wave compatible devices you can set up scenes through your home network that are triggered by the door lock, such as turning on lights or the thermostat when you enter your home.

One of the few downsides to touchscreens are fingerprints, and using the same code day after day will reveal which numbers are being been pressed. Kwikset’s answer is their patented SecureScreen technology. As an optional feature, it will randomly generate two numbers you must press before entering your access code. This ensures more than just the numbers used in your code are pressed, thus making it difficult for intruders to guess your code.
